  • Sobhy Finalist at NetSuite Open 2016, Two Years Running!

    U.S. No. 1 and Harrow ELITE Team Member Amanda Sobhy is a finalist in the NetSuite Open 2016, PSA W50 tournament for the second year in a row16NO8624

    Taking place September 27 - October 1 in San Francisco, CA, this year's NetSuite Open saw World No. 6 Sobhy defeat World No. 3 Davis in the Semi's before competing against World No. 2 Massaro in the Finals, ultimately finishing second overall. Congrats to Amanda and GO #TeamHarrow!

    The 2016 Hong Hong Open Championships marked the official start of professional squash season, and for the first time in history, Harrow sponsored athletes occupied 3 of the 8 spots in the Semi Finals in this duel World Series event, with Amanda Sobhy and Karim Abdel Gawad making it through to the Finals, and Ryan Cuskelly in the Semi's.

    2016 European Individual Squash Championship took place in Prague , Czech Republic September 7 - 10 and saw Harrow ELITE Team Member Nele Gilis  place in the runner up position, second only to the top seed, Camille Serme.

    Australian #2 and #TeamHarrow athlete Ryan Cuskelly headlined the 2016 Harrow Charlottesville Open, PSA M25 which took place September 14 - 17 at the McArthur Squash Center at Boar's Head Sports Club in Virginia. No. 16 in the World, Cuskelly was top seed and after breezing through to the finals,  gave a riveting  performance and came in second place in the decisive fifth.

    Harrow sponsored professional squash player Maria Toorpakai Wazir received international coverage this past spring for revealing that as a young girl in her native Pakistan, she made the decision to pose as a male in order to play squash.     Premiering at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), GIRL UNBOUND follows Wazir as she trains in Toronto while her family simultaneously faces threats in her home country. To this day, the Taliban forbids women to participate in sports, and the film her family is ultimately forced to move from due to safety concerns.

  • Nele Gilis Comes in Second at European Individual Championship

    image2 (2)2016 European Individual Squash Championship took place in Prague , Czech Republic September 7 - 10 and saw Harrow ELITE Team Member Nele Gilis  place in the runner up position, second only to the top seed, Camille Serme. After quick matches in Round Two and the Quarters, the Semis saw Nele compete against her younger sister, Tinne Gilis; ultimately coming out on top after a 46 minute match [ 11-4, 11-6, 12-10 ]. Congrats Nele!

    Saturday's Semi Finals saw a Harrow vs. Harrow battle, with Karim competing against Ryan Cuskelly, and Gawad ultimately pulling through to a 3-1 win.

    In the women's event, Omneya Abdel Kawy made it to the Quarters. While, Round 2 saw a pack of ELITE Team players with Annie Au, Joshna Chinappa and Raneem El Welily.

    With six Harrow athletes seeded in the top 10, and a dominant performance by all, the Hong Kong Open results certainly signal a strong year for the ELITE Team.

    Taking place August 15 - 18 in Australia, 2016's WSF World Doubles Squash Championship featured 5 #TeamHarrow players--Ryan Cuskelly, Joshna Chinappa, Rachael Grinham, Alan Clyne, and Donna Urquhart. Cuskelly, Grinham, and Urquhart all hail from Australia, making it an especially momentous competition for the trio.

    Nele Gilis Gets Third!

    Nele Gillis was invited to play the Kooyong International Invitational  at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club this year where four of the top men's and women's seeds from the 2016 Victorian Open played for prestige and $10,000 in prize money in a round robin event. Nele placed 3rd and and went on to make it to the quarter finals at the Victorian Open.

    Running August 23 - 28, the Hong Kong Open marks the first tournament of the season for squash pro, and the first chance to accrue points toward the World Series. Included in the top seeds are ELITE Team members Marwan ElShorbagy, Karim Abdel Gawad, Tarek Momen, Raneem El Welily, Amanda Sobhy,  Omneya Abdel Kawy and Joshna Chinappa.
