2012 Prep Jamboree Program Presented by Harrow Sports
Boys Bantam Major/Minor/U16 Midgets

On behalf of Todd Johnson and Harrow Sports I would like to extend you an invitation to participate in the eighth annual Prep School Jamboree Program.

The prep program began with a concept of taking bantam major teams and playing a Prep School JV schedule during the months of December, January and February. From there it went to a 4 team bantam major jamboree at Hotchkiss School in November of 2005. The following year saw 10 bantam major and minor teams participate at Hotchkiss, Salisbury and Berkshire Schools. The last 4 years we’ve had over 60 teams including U16 Midgets and Bantam Major/Minor teams participate at numerous schools.

The purpose of these Jamborees is to give players and their families an opportunity to see the Prep School atmosphere and play in front of Prep School coaches. There will not be a playoff round in this format. The teams will play two 25 minute halves. Each team will play 4 games. The cost will be $1,750 per team.

There will be no charge at the door.

There will be a panel discussion on Saturday with numerous prep school coaches and administrators. This will be followed by a question and answer period.

We offer games at the Bantam Major (1998 birth year), Bantam Minor (1999 birth year) and U16 level.
Jamboree dates are:
1. Avon - Oct 5/6/7
2. Berkshire, Salisbury, Hotchkiss, Milbrook - Oct 26/27/28
3. Kent, Others - Nov 9/10/11

Once a team commits you will asked for contact information for each player/family. The family will receive information from the schools participating. The purpose is not to try and convince anyone that prep school is the right fit. It is simply to allow families and players to get a clear understanding of what the prep school experience can provide. You will have the opportunity to arrange tours for your teams during the weekend.

Each team's roster will be distributed to all coaches. This is a unique experience that can open doors that can truly impact a student/athlete’s future.

Teams are welcome to play league games. We will use your league format for those games.

We have received tremendous positive feedback from teams, families and the schools who have participated. Don’t miss out on this unique showcase opportunity!

"The Jamborees afford prep coaches the opportunity to see talented players perform; while at the same time allowing players and families the chance to visit prep school campuses and get a taste of what many student/athletes know is the best combination of schoolwork and athletics."

- John Gardner, Head Hockey Coach, Avon Old Farms School

"The Harrow Jamborees provide families with the unique opportunity to tour campuses, meet with current students, interact with coaches and get a feel for what the prep school route has to offer. This experience provides participants with a great deal of information that will help them shape their decisions about their future academic and athletic goals."

- Dan Driscoll, Varsity Hockey Hockey Coach, Berkshire School

“Having these jamborees on our campuses is a great opportunity not only for the hockey coaches, but for the prospective families as well. Being able to see all of the different campuses and being able to meet some of the prep school coaches is an invaluable experience. It is also great for the coaches to have the opportunity to answer so many questions about the prep school process, and to be able to explain the educational and athletic opportunities that each of our schools offer.”

- Vincent Sorriento, Varsity Hockey Head Coach, Millbrook School

"Jamborees such as this are tremendously beneficial to prospective student-athletes, offering competitive hockey and a true sense of a school’s campus and academic programs. No two preparatory boarding schools are the same – they all have unique atmospheres, academic programs, and hockey programs. The goal for every young man interested in the prep school route should be to find the right fit, and the jamboree is a wonderful first step in that process".

- Matt Herr, Kent School
