Lower Dauphin, Lehighton claim high school field hockey titles in Pennsylvania

The Hershey High School field hockey team had two penalty corners with no time left on the clock, but they couldn’t convert against Lower Dauphin, which claimed the PIAA-AAA championship 1-0 on Nov. 21. The win wasn’t just notable for the Pennsylvania state championship: it also gave Lower Dauphin coach Linda Kreiser her four state title and an unforgettable 600th career win. Senior captain Corrine McConville converted a penalty stroke in overtime to give Lehighton High School a 1-0 field hockey victory over Selinsgrove Nov. 21 in the PIAA-AA field hockey state championship. McConville flicked her shot to the right corner then dropped to her knees on the turf as Indians’ players and coaches sprinted from the sidelines to celebrate a perfect 26-0 season.
