2016 Harrow Cup Hosted by 4Goals Affords All-Inclusive Opportunity to Players
March 8, 2016 – [ DENVER,CO ] Global leader in specialty sports equipment, Harrow Sports, and 4Goals Field Hockey, specializing in Olympic-level instruction and competition, today announce a long-term strategy to join forces and present the preeminent all-ages competitive field hockey tournament in the United States. Previously, both parties held distinct annual tournaments. Now, this unique partnership creates a purposeful expansion of playing opportunities and a dedicated effort to reach the largest group of players possible. The Harrow Cup will be hosted by The 4Goals Cup this July 30th and 31st at prestigious Brown University, 235 Hope Street, Providence, RI 02912.
“We have been committed to cultivating a lifetime-sport ethos by providing opportunities for players to compete after college careers have finished. By joining 4Goals, we extend this opportunity to the youngest players, now able view field hockey as a long-term sport with a definitive tournament they can compete in well into adulthood, ” says Harrow CEO, Mark Hayden.
Since the inaugural Harrow Sports tournament in 2012, the Harrow Cup has provided a structured, annual domestic competition for post-collegiate athletes to extend their playing career. The original Harrow Cup also served as an initiative event for the establishment of a United States Women’s FIH-sanctioned semi-professional premier league. In three successful years, the Cup drew thousands of entrants and awarded over $30,000 in prize money.
The 4Goals Cup began in 2013 as an all-ages competition with the mission to provide outstanding playing opportunities at all levels for both men and women; awarding a total of $35,000 in prize money for both divisions. By teaming up, Harrow Sports and 4Goals will reach a broader audience of field hockey athletes and showcase to the larger field hockey community this unique opportunity to compete.
“The 4Goals Cup will proudly host the Harrow Cup for 2016. 4Goals is excited to join forces with Harrow Sports to become the leaders in post-collegiate competition as well as providing excellent tournaments for all ages. We are looking forward to a long-term partnership as we grow The 4Goals Cup Series throughout the nation,” says 4Goals founder and University of Michigan Head Field Hockey Coach, Marcia Pankratz.
