[9/30/16] Team USA’s Natalie Grainger and Norbert Kornyei and Team Egypt’s Mohammed Abbas are the 2016 World Masters Champions of their respective age divisions after winning at the World Masters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
[10/1/16] U.S. No. 1 and Harrow ELITE Team Member Amanda Sobhy is a finalist in the NetSuite Open 2016, PSA W50 tournament for the second year in a row
Taking place September 27 – October 1 in San Francisco, CA, this year’s NetSuite Open saw World No. 6 Sobhy defeat World No. 3 Davis in the Semi’s before competing against World No. 2 Massaro in the Finals, ultimately finishing second overall.
[10/2/16] Annie Au and Joshna Chinappa Compete in Finals of Otter International
The PSA W35 Women’s Otters International in Mumbai saw two Harrow ELITE Team members battle it out in the Finals. Annie Au and Joshna Chinappa defeated Delia Arnold and Tesni Evans, respectively, in the Semi’s before advancing to the Finals in a #TeamHarrow vs. #TeamHarrow match. World No. 12 Annie claimed the title over home crowd favorite and World No. 13 Joshna Chinappa.
[10/2/16] Omar Meguid Claims COAS International Title
Harrow ELITE Team’s Omar Meguid, top seed at the COAS International in Islamabad, Pakistan came out on top claiming the 2016 Title. The Egyptian defeated Ivan Yuen of Malaysia in three straight games at the Mushaf Squash Complex.
[10/6/16] Karim Abdel Gawad Named PSA Player of the Month
Harrow ELITE Team’s Karim Abdel Gawad was been named Player of the Month by the Professional Squash Association. Breaking the top 5 ranking in the world for the first time, Gawad (now a career high World No. 4) gave a number of impressive performances during the last couple months of the PSA Tour, including a runner up finish at the Hong Kong Open and a title claiming win at the Al Ahram Squash Open NewGiza in his home country of Egypt.
[10/15/16] #TeamHarrow in Semi’s at the U.S. Open
Held October 8 – 15 in Philadelphia, the PSA Delaware Investments U.S. Open 2016 brought together the top squash players in the world to compete for $150,000 in both the men’s and women’s competitions. With 5 Harrow ELITE Team players seeded in the top 10, masterful performances were given by many #TeamHarrow athletes. In the Men’s tournament, World No. 4 and winner of last month’s Al Ahram Open, Karim Abdel Gawad advanced clear through to the Semi’s. In the Women’s draw, both Amanda Sobhy and Raneem El Welily made it to the Semi’s. Home favorite and World No. 6, Sobhy competed against Camille Serme who went on to win the title.
Facing off with Nour El Sherbini, last month’s Al Ahram Open Champion El Welily may not have advanced to the Finals of the US Open, but her performance (particularly a trick shot) earned her a play in ESPN SportsCenter’s Top Plays of the Night.
