Ocean City, Madison, Shore Regional claim state field hockey titles in New Jersey

New Jersey powerhouse Eastern won its 11th straight NJSIAA/Schuylkill Valley Sports Group 4 title on Sunday (Read more). Here is a look at winners in the other classes.

GROUP 3: Colleen Slaughter scored on a penalty stroke in overtime to send Ocean City past Warren Hills, 2-1, for the NJSIAA/Schuylkill Valley Sports Group 3 title. The title was Ocean City’s seventh overall and first since 2005. Read more at NJ.com.

GROUP 2: Chelsea Davies scored two goals as Madison earned a 3-1 victory over Bishop Eustace in the NJSIAA/Schuylkill Valley Sports Group 2 final. The state title was the fourth overall and first since 2003 for Madison (22-1-1), which won its eighth consecutive game and stretched its unbeaten streak to 15. Read more at NJ.com.

GROUP 1: Shore Regional rolled to its first title in seven years, scoring early and often in a 7-0 victory over Holy Cross in the championship game of the NJSIAA/Schuylkill Valley Sports Group 1 tournament. The championship was the 11th overall for Shore and first since the school from West Long Branch won the Group 1 title in 2002. Read more at NJ.com.
