#Teamharrow’s Amanda Sobhy Just Made History
We at Harrow Sports HQ are thrilled to announce that last night, Harrow ELITE Team Professional Squash Player Amanda “The Beast” Sobhy became the first American-born athlete in history to make it to the finals of a World Series-level tournament of the Professional Squash Association Tour. Amanda was seeded 10th in the annual international J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, with each of her phenomenal multi-round wins against the world’s top players considered an upset. Sobhy absolutely rocked the tournament finishing in second place last night–a massive victory for a player who has been Pro for less than a year.
After her historical run, Amanda had this to say, “This week has been incredible. While it wasn’t the fairytale ending I had hoped for, it was still one of the best squash weeks of my career so far. To be able to make the finals of a PSA World Series event like the prestigious Tournament Of Champions in front of a sold out hometown crowd at Grand Central Station was an unbelievable feeling. The support all week has been spectacular, especially from the Harrow Team who have been by my side for the majority of my squash career. I couldn’t have imagined embarking on my professional career without Harrow in my corner and I feel so fortunate to not only have represented myself in this tournament, but also squash in the United States and Harrow Sports.”
Already ranked a career-high 8th in the world, Sobhy is currently the only American-born man or woman to crack the top 10. Amanda signed with Harrow Sports in May of 2015 after graduating & finishing her college career at Harvard. One of the most decorated players in US Squash history, Sobhy is a four time national champion and was the only player under the age of 17 to win three major Women’s Squash Association (WSA) titles. In addition to her prowess on the court, Amanda received the honor of being distinguished as Squash Magazine’s #1 Most Intriguing, Interest, and Influential People of 2015.
Sobhy’s remarkable winning streak and second place finish signifies a new era for US Squash. With last night’s performance, Sobhy has cemented herself in US Squash history and made the nation a fierce contender in the international scene. Be forewarned—This is only the beginning for The Beast.
